Looking for a spring for this cleat

Hi all.
This is a Schaefer cleat/jammer/clutch not sure what exactly to call it. There’s supposed to be a spring that keeps it open so it only grabs the line when the lever moved to close the teeth. Does anyone know the exact name of this hardware or better yet where I can get replacement springs?
Thanks

Re: Looking for a spring for this cleat

That is an early version of what is currently called a " rope clutch".

I think your best bet is to give Schaefer a call and see if they can supply the spring. If not at least they might be able to supply a drawing of the spring.

Good luck,

Fwiw, I have also seen them called "sheet stopper", but that particular one looks like some I have seen on halyards.
