Re: Mast electrical cables

Even with the less-than-zero current draw of LEDs, the factor in mast wiring becomes one of voltage drop.
With all the up/down/in/out, it can be an easy 25' panel>mast, plus another 50' in the mast on a boat that size.
So, you've got a 150' for a two-way run, that's in real voltage drop territory.
Use the biggest wire practicable.
Having a sub-panel near the mast that's fed with big wire from the main panel can be a blessing sometimes.
Just some thoughts.

Re: Mast electrical cables

Well, weight aloft is a thing.

LED anchor lights and steaming lights are typically under 1/4 amp. Even with 18 awg you'd be under 3% voltage drop. Foredeck light might be a little more but it doesn't have to meet the 3% threshold.
