Masthead rig for cat

I will be using a second hand rig for my new cat (under construction). The donor boat was rigged as a masthead sloop with a back-stay, cap shrouds, etc. The new rig will be a mast-head tripod with a diamond. The spreaders are in the right location and have been shortened. I would like to use the old through-bolted shroud tangs (large hole) for the diamond stays and attach the angled-back shrouds to the masthead, where the back-stay used to be fixed. Is this a feasible thing to do? I would save me from adding additional hardware. Most of the new standing rigging will be Dyneema, so that the shrouds could be fixed with a shackle (secure pin).

The masthead has 4 sheaves (main, jib, topping-lift,?) and a welded loop for an external spinnaker halyard.

Re: Masthead rig for cat

The crane where the backstay attached is likely designed to take a longitudinal load.
Attaching shrouds will produce lateral loads.

Through bolted tangs in the designed position could be cheaper faster and less risk.

A loading assessment would be prudent before continuing.

I see your point. I'll used the original tangs for the shrouds and fix a couple of new attachment points for the diamond stays a bit lower down.
