Why can't I navigate to page 5 of this thread? It keeps redirecting to page 4. So it jumps from post #60 to #76. Even if I change the last character of the url to 5, it redirects to page 4. ???

You are not authorised for page 5. This is the adults only section.
If you are over 21 years old then check you profile birth date is correct.

Chotu, it sounds like you have worked things out with your Rigger. That is excellent news. Although I am only a simple dingy sailor on a small inland lake, if by chance you ever need crew, please let me know.

Do you have a reliable motor?

Build a frame to hold the mast. Load up the parts and pieces. Motor to a location with a rigger.

Consider a bladder tank for extended range.

Just in case this ever happens to anyone else, it's browser-related. Firefox has no problem. The problem is Chrome.

Re: NEED A RIGGER - fly to Outer Banks NC (Please)

Chotu has placed a finger upon one of the key problems.

People with far bigger budgets are demanding the limited time of a very small set of skilled and reputable workers.

That is the problem I ran into when I was trying to get a rigger for my vessel in Thailand. The reputable rigger couldn't give me the time of day and was packed with big budget high stress projects.

Overall Chotu is anxious to get something up and working. To which I say...then don't worry about what it looks like.

In the Philippines, when faced with no rigger I managed to get a working solution...it didn't look pretty but worked.

I utilized Crosby potted fittings for a metal forestay and Dyneema backstays around ANSI 54-3.

I do not recommend the approach you see in this photo for a big multihull. I learned the hard way that stainless steel thimbles can be crushed. I then learned the hard way the turning radius of a large Dyeema line must be far larger than a typical thimble.

That is how I found the ANSI 54-3. I utilized a pair each side and redundant synch lines. Safe working load on the 54-3 is 20,000 lbs.

Certainly if it’s 25‘4“ I can get in there. I just won’t be able to have fenders.

But it is way up that river and I am sure are quite calm up there. So it’s not a big deal as long as it’s not a windy day.

But a lot of that stuff wasn’t really in the plan because I was trying to figure out if I want to keep the boat. By sailing it.

So I guess I have to look at everything fresh again from a new angle.

I wasn’t going to do the hurricane damage stuff. I was just going to get a rig on and try this thing out. To make sure I want to continue wasting my life.

But one thing that might work out nicely is to do the standing rigging over here and then the running rigging over there.

It’s definitely in my top two plans. And even if it were a question of storing the boat for hurricane season that’s the spot.

I’m just going to go out and get to work. And then look at it at the end of the week
Hi ,
i saw your post while searching for a rigger in the same general area and have not had much luck .
Did you ever work out a safe place for your boat? I have been told Duck Creek Boatyard is good .

I did not. Sorry. I’m just going to do my rigging myself.
