Need Advice On Adding Mizzen Staysail

I want to add a mizzen staysail to my 33' ketch and am unsure about how best to attach the halyard block to the top of the mizzen mast.

I assumed that a fitting such as the following would be the right thing to use:

but then started worrying about how much force the rivets (monel) could take and whether something more substantial might be called for, which would be through bolted.

Suggestions?

Re: Need advice on adding mizzen staysail

Most things on aluminum masts are riveted, shouldn't be a problem.
Kinda hard to throughbolt unless you've got long arms.

Nothing is riveted on my mast.

S/S screws threaded into the mast.

Staysail block should be close enough to the mast head to through bolt the fitting.

Re: Need advice on adding mizzen staysail

After studying the mast head a bit more, I think it would be possible to remove the halyard sheave and have enough room (perhaps with a long rachet extension) to fit a u-bolt vertically, along with the usual backing plate on the inside of the mast.

Presumably that would be strong enough. Eh?

Re: Need advice on adding mizzen staysail

as long as it wont chafe i would think so. that mizzen staysail cant be too big...? either should work. if you use the first fitting you showed, put the double rivets on top.
