Need Help Re-rigging a Mast-mounted Spinnaker Pole!

I am trying to correct an improper rigging of the control lines on my mast-mounted whisker pole. There are two separate blocks with an eye inbetween them mounted on the mast both above and below the pole itself, which slides up and down the mast on its own car. I *think* that the pole is to be rigged using only one line, which can be used to both raise and lower the pole. I am at a loss for how to route the line, however. Does anyone have pictures or suggestions that might help? Thanks in advance.

Re: need help re-rigging a mast-mounted spinnaker pole!

On most that I've seen, it's almost identical to rigging a mast-mounted whisker pole, and it sounds like it from your description. I wrote an article with lots of drawings, measurements, etc. on that for Cruising World in 2006. My manuscript is here (scroll down the page to the PDF, it includes all the photos and rigging drawings):

Installing a Track-Mounted Whisker Pole

Page 5 of the PDF shows how to run the control line.

Hope it helps!

Re: need help re-rigging a mast-mounted spinnaker pole!

take a single line, tie one end to the upper eye on the mast, run the line down to a turning block on the top of the pole car, run the line back up the the upper block on the mast, run the line down from the block to the lower block, back up the the lower block on the pole car, then back down to the lower eye on the mast. Somewhere in the middle there should be two cam or jam cleats to hold the line from going up or down. All done.
