Need Help Threading Reefing Points

how do I thread the rope? there are 3 of these which I guess are used as reefing points. what are they called? the top eye has a roller guide, the bottom one doesn't.

Thanks!

Re: need help id'ing these

any sagely advice? would the rope be threaded in such a way that it would be the one attached to the sail slide? and a reefing hook used?

or the slide+shackle is still attached to this thingamabob? and the rope tied down as the reefing mechanism?

Thanks!

Well, on closer inspection, it probably isn't meant for reefing as there aren't any corresponding eyes on the leech... So I'm pretty lost... :|

Those are to attach to slides on the mast. The idea is that as the sail is lowered the line will slacken and allow the sail to flake nicely on the boom.

Thanks SM! I tried that out yesterday. only issue was the mast gate was so high up most of the slides would fall out when the sail is lowered...

Re: Need Help Threading Reefing Points

there should be a gate over the slot in the mast preventing the slugs from coming out.
