New to me boat, need advice on setting up an asymmetrical spinnaker.

My islander Peterson 40 came with an asymmetrical spinnaker. I am pretty confident about the head of the sail and the clew of the sail rigging... But not as confident of the tack. There is a hook attached to the jib chain plate but I'm reasonably sure it is not for the spinnaker. Seems like the setup I've seen includes a snap block attached to the chainplate and a line from the clew of the sail through the snap block to some kind of deck mounted cleat.

So... I'm curious? What is your setup and could you please upload a photo for me to see how to rig mine.

The previous owner is not available to answer my questions ( he's bed ridden and not expected to recover)

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: New to me boat, need advice on setting up an asymmetrical spinnaker.

Generally, if tacking to the bow area, there is a block installed. Perhaps that's what needs to be attached to the chain you mentioned. Then a line is lead through the block with a snap shackle at the end. This is the tack line that can be adjusted to allow the asym spin to fly futher off the deck. The snap shackle attaches to the tack of the asym spin.
Hope that helps.
