Question Newport 28 Rigging Question?

I have a neighbor that has an early 70's Newport 28 with a bent mast (darn bridges ) and was searching for a replacement extrusion. I've tried all the ones that supply rig-rite and Sheldon and others. Some mfgr's don't post their extrusion dim's, like Sparcraft, for one.

Does anyone know who supplied the masts for Newport in those days. I couldn't find any markings or numbers on the mast or its castings.

Thanks!
Del

Re: Newport 28 Rigging Question?

Contact with a local spar builder or rigger might be quickest. They tend to know all this stuff. There's a good chance they can find a piece with which to splice the mast if the bend is localized.

Otherwise, you can replace the mast with most any other extrusion.

Re: Newport 28 Rigging Question?

The old mast is snaked shaped with a busted head casting and a huge dent . No fix'n this one.
The guy was hoping for a new extrusion to swap all the fittings onto. Just hoping by chance he could find one.
