Norsemen 3/8" Cones

I am in pretty desperate need of some 3/8" Norsemen cones. I located two, but need, at a minimum, two more. I am going to call around tomorrow to see if I can track down a few more (not having too much luck searching on the web).

But I was wondering if anyone knows of (or has) where some are for sale.

Thanks!

These can be found on the web. New computer rebuild so all of my links are lost.

Re: Norsemen 3/8" Cones

I wish you could come up with an actual site. I have spent the last hour searching the web and calling around. The best I have so far is a single cone. People a lot smarter than me must have jumped on the supplies as soon as they announced they were stopping production.

They stopped all Norseman production. I am fairly sure I can lay my hands on quite a few cones tomorrow. What are they worth?

Re: Norsemen 3/8" Cones

I finally found them with the help of Bud at Westsailparts.com. Thanks for everyone's assistance.

As for the question about Norseman, Navtec announced they were stopping production late last year.

Check some of these out. I also find them in rigger's junk piles along with whole fittings some times.

Re: Norsemen 3/8" Cones

query: does (did) Navtec actually produce the Norseman fittings, or were they simply vending a product made somewhere else?

Hope that it is the latter, because our boat, along with countless others is rigged with norseman terminals. If replacement cones are not available, those terminals will need to be replaced. That's pretty crappy customer care by Navtec.

Looked at a couple of the links posted above, and they appear to be selling Navtec parts, so their source has dried up too... I think!

I suppose any CNC shop could produce the cones, so some enterprising vendor could step up and fill the gap (hint, hint)

Awaiting developments...

Jim

Re: Norsemen 3/8" Cones

We are going through this same dilemma since we are rigged with all Norseman's. We are in the process of putting new wire on and we can not locate any cones for our older Norseman model MK1 with the locking nut that are more than 30 years old. So we will have to junk them and go to a different type like staloc or hyne. That's a huge expense considering all we should have to do is purchase a length of wire and some cones

Jim better start looking for some cones and stock up on them. The newer version MK's you can find but they will be gone soon unless someone starts producing the cones again.

Anyone know where I can get 3/8 and 5/16 MK 1 cones?

If you have one as an example, take it to a machine shop & have a few spares made. My old ones are 3/4 inch. I don't throw those away.

For almost all rigging parts check out Sailing Services in Miami... Brooks and Pedro are the best!

Give Port Townsend Rigging in Port Townsend, Washington a call. They hooked me up with 1/4 inch cones when everyone else was out of them (last year).

Yes I thought of that as well but do not have any spares. The MK1 cones were discontinued about 15 years ago. I have contacted numerous rigging shops and no one I spoke with has any of the mk1 cones.

Darn......
