Pancake electric winch for mast mount

Does anyone know an electric self tailing winch with an internal or pancake motor (surface mount) rated for mounting a vertical surface (mast)

Seems Anderson and Selden say “horizontal surfaces only”

I think hydraulic winches must exist. If so you could try to solve your problem by looking at hydraulic winches because these would work in any orientation.

Edit: Had a quick look, all have external motors.

I'm curious: do those folks say why it must be horizontal? The only thing that comes to my mind would be keeping water out of the electrical works, and if that is the case, perhaps there is a work-around to be found.
