Pivoting or swivling bowsprit

I believe the Pardy's had a pivoting bowsprit, I guess it allows placing Tack off center for deeper dw?
Any more modern example?

Most modern ones slide in and out. Would not be to difficult to fab up. I was actually thinking about making a tiny one this spring for my asymmetrical spinnaker.

Re: Pivoting or swivling bowsprit

Actually I believe I misunderstood your intention and think you want one that could pivot side to side. Say something with an inboard pivot point and adjustable stays to move it side to side on different tacks. Hadn't thought of that but sounds like it may work. Have to think on that for a bit.

Here's the idea of a pivoting bowsprit for a catamaran complete with kinda math that uses letters instead of numbers

The Pardeys didn't do this, Steve Dashew did on his last sailboat design, Beowulf. He calls it a canting bowsprit and discusses it here, https://setsail.com/beowulf-the-ulti...ed-march-2014/

And in his book, Cruising Encyclopedia.

Re: Pivoting or swivling bowsprit

I considered doing this with the new setup for my prodder, but ended up coming to the conclusion that the cons outweighed the pros. A few thoughts:
- You're going to need quite a long prodder to get a decent amount of articulation
- You need to be able to control and adjust the bob stays under load = clutches and you need to get them to a winch
- It's a lot easier to just tie an extra line to the tack of your spinnaker and haul it across to the windward bow

Edit: You can't do the above on a mono....
