The Hunter 41 sail plan has a very large main sail and a tiny jib. The Hunters that have that type of sail plan can get away with a smaller size whisker pole. For a boats that has a J of 16.8' I would recommend a 12-22 Line Control type whisker pole that uses a UTS, male-female toggle socket for any tine of offshore sailing. 30 knots of wind I would recommend a fixed length 3 1/2" O.D. pole for those higher wind ranges also with a UTS inboard endfitting.
