REEFRITE FURLER OPINIONS WANTED

It is getting time to replace the existing Profurl. It is having a number of issues, dating back to a goof in the original install in 2007. It may be worth the effort to fix but it is probably time to replace the wire so I am looking at a potential upgrade.

I have come across the Reefrite system from NZ. From my research not much has been written about them but nothing bad. So I am reaching out to the collective to see what others with experience think.

44” LOD, 50’ LOA 40,000lb cutter. 54’ luff, 62’ mast height.

And any comments about the KIWI slides would be helpful.

Re: REEFRITE FURLER OPINIONS WANTED

We had one. Unfortunately lost same when we were dismasted in our previous boat. It was lost in 1996, though, so my input is really dated. We liked it very much. Particularly cool was its wee highfield lever for positive closure, so it couldn't unfurl itself. Had no problems with the Kiwi slides.

We recently replaced our genoa furler with one made by Reefit, out of Launceston, Tasmania. It is a nice bit of gear, too, and might be worth asking if they ship internationally.
