Repair SDA batten receptacle.

Has anyone played round with repairing these batten receptacles? Replacement ones are available at an outrageous price from Bainbridge, I assume the titanium bolts are $100 each!

Given that the titanium bolts are fine in mine, just that eventually the M10 thread the car connects with gets flogged out and it pulls apart, I dont think replacing them is viable!

I did repair one by bogging up with epoxy and then re-drilling and tapping a new M10 thread.

Wondering whether there is a better option, maybe drilling it out and epoxying in a metal 'sleeve' with the M10 thread in it?

Re: Repair SDA batten receptacle.

You could try contacting Windslyce. They repaired a couple of similar batten boxes for me due to a sailmaker cock-up. I think they have been taken over by Keeley, so not sure they do custom work any more.

You might have success by filling the whole with epoxy and drilling and threading.

Interesting, looking at the Keeley site they still so custom work. I do have a machinist mate, I might show it to him and see what he thinks.
