Rolly Tasker/ National Sail Supply?

Anyone have any experience with these sails? We are looking for an affordable asymmetric spinnaker to mess around with. Was looking at used sails but these are very affordable for a new sail and thought they were worth a look. We have never used a spinnaker so didn't want to lay down 5 or 6 grand on a quantum or north if we are not sure if a. We will use it all that much or b. It is too much to handle for the two of us.

I bought a Rolly tasker mainsail. It worked great, but be careful measuring. I measured wrong and got a mainsail the foot of which was a bit short.

Served me well for two years until I sold the boat.

I bought a Rolly Tasker maintain and love it!

I was in Thailand at the time so went to their loft several times.
Everything is hand done, except the computer design and cutting, of course.

I have bought a lot of sails from National Sails. Rolly Tasker sails are good quality dacron and last well.

Bought a main for our previous boat about eight years ago, it's still going fine.

Their white cloth tends to be very stiff, a lot of resin.

Don't know about the spinnakers, but I did consider them last year for an assy, but I bought second hand.

I found if I pushed on price there was quite a bit of leeway.

Have an offshore gennie. 4 years old, probably 4-5,000 miles on it. Still looks great. Just needed to have the sunbrella restitched.

Guys, a request please.
When you're giving feedback on these seails, could you please include as much key data as possible. So that follow on buyers have a better idea of what you purchased, sail wise, & what kind of service & loads that it'll see.

Specifically, such data as;
- Sail Dimentions
- Boat's Rig Dimensions
- Cloth Weight
- Cloth Type
- Sail Finish Type, if Applicable
- Mounting/Attachment Hardware of Note
- Cut Type, & Layout Pattern of the Sail's Panels
- Boat Size, & Type (plus Righting Moment, if you know it)
- Sail's usable Wind Range, as Specified by Sail Maker
- Stitching Quality, & Number of Rows of Stitching
- Ditto the above, Regarding Handwork
- Attention to Detail on Key Features, like; Tacks, Clews, Reef Pointts, Batten Pockets, etc.
- Other key features that the sail had, or didn't, of note.
For instance; # of Reefs, Special Leech Cord Setups, # of Battens & Design of Batten Pockets, etc. (Meaning; Integral, Glue On, Seperate Stitch on Type, or Other)
- Service Life of the sail/How it's aging (gracefully, or otherwise)
- Evaluation of Customer Service of the Loft
- Cost
- Warranty. And quality of Warranty Service, if Needed
- Time spent by Sailmaker, Fitting/Testing out Sail on Your Vessel (if applicable).
- Anything else Of Note, which I've Forgotten

Mark J, What's the issue with asking intelligent, & relevant questions about an item which folks are going to spend several $K on? Or has that kind of wisdom/thinking, fallen out of fashion too?

Guess I should break out the Stupid Mallet, & whack myself in the head for a while, until I'm dumbed down enough.

And to think that I was going to ask a mod about making something akin to my list of questions, a Sticky. Doh!

Purchased a Rolly Tasker asymmetric from National Sail Supply. Came with the sock. I don't race, but it keeps the boat moving nicely in light wind. I am also pleased with it.

I purchased a set of sails ( main and Genoa) from Lee sails ( Hong Kong) and was very happy with the price, quality of fabric and quality of finish. These were for a 34' boat at the time and they fit perfectly without any adjustment. they even put on the emblems sail number,s draft stripe. etc. Good quality sails I would not hesitate to purchase again. While I haven't used Rolly Tasker, they have a great reputation.

I don't know what it is about offshore sailmakers but people were asking these same questions about them 15 years ago when I bought my Lee Sails sails.

Thanks - I've started to study the details on my current sails with the idea that I can compare the features to the various online and local sailmakers. For example: location of reef points, stitching and reinforcements at reef attachments, tacks and clews, reef line rings, location and length of battens, number of and orientation of panels, headboard, etc. I need to find time to organize my notes and photos, so I can compare to the literature. I also plan on measuring the sails off the boat.

The Precision Sail Loft have a pretty good description of their offshore built sails. Might be a consideration too.

I'm thinking new sails in September-ish....
