Schooner America VS the new AV75 boats

For the more intense enjoying of the America's cup, we thought it would be fun to kind of juxtapose the original Schooner the America (on a technology level) and the new AC75 which have started raving today.

I think perhaps some here may also enjoy these two overviews next to each other

I believe that is the Schooner out of San Diego, I got to sail on it when they were trying to get the cup races in San Diego instead of San Francisco. If you look at the photos I'm one of the old guys with white hair.

Always love going on these boats.

Ted, you will have to narrow down the field a bit w/all the white haired guys to be able to distinguish who you are in the photos. lol

Bill, I do have an uncanny ability to blend into a crowd of privileged old white guys on a sailboat like a chameleon.

They made an east coast and southern US tour a few years ago and I got to sail on her. Wasn't much wind but the stories were fun to listen to.

Re: Schooner America VS the new AV75 boats

We've been lucky to have America come visit. One of our club members had some related hardware. Another friend is serving as a judge for the next few months...
