Selden in mast reefing drum

Hi
Hoping someone has been down this road
The teeth of the plastic winch drum on my in mast furled have worn to the point of not gripping the continuous furling line.
In order to replace, must I remove the entire furling winch assy from the mast, or can the drum only be removed? The center of the winch socket looks like it might’ve had a socket for an Allen wrench, but 8mm is too small and 9mm too large. I’m praying that it’s not an 8 that PO tried to remove and rounded the corners
Thanks
