Snatch Block

I recently acquired a snatch block that is way too big for Imagine. Can anyone identify or confirm the make? From what I have found, it appears to be a Merriman product. Photos attached. Thanks.

Re: Snatch Block

That appears to be the Merriman trident logo on the snap shackle.

Re: Snatch Block

yeah, that's a big one! Was worth about US$300+ new. I used one for 100lb fisherman anchor retrieval off the bowsprit of my Joshua ketch. I'd hang on to it, could come in handy in an emergency.

Re: Snatch Block

Remember that snatch blocks are much weaker for their size due to the opening design.

As nuku34 mentioned, if you are really out cruising it might be useful for emergency use, storm use, unusual situations, etc, etc.

If you're just a coastal sailor, marina hopping, etc, then maybe not.
