spectra rope from india?

I found this source comes from india rather than big brands.

https://rightrope.com/product/uhmwmpe-dyneema-hmpe/

It has much lower prices especially in larger diameters. Is it good? The strength is claimed the same as amsteel.

Re: spectra rope from india?

No way to know without taking the plunge and buying some. I wouldn't risk it--even if they have the same chemical composition as Dyneema or Spectra, they may not have the quality control or processes that DSM or Honeywell do.
There's a lot of bad rope out there....

Re: spectra rope from india?

It's unlikely this is Spectra, most probably a UHMWPE made to the same specs as Dyneema, but which grade/standard of Dyneema is the question.

SK 68, 75, 78, 90, 99 or DM20? All have different characteristics and use cases.

What is your intended or potential use? If for non-critical, low load applications where you are just looking for lighter line, or perhaps something that floats (such as a heaving line or dinghy painter) then I wouldn't worry about the quality. If you're looking to replace standing rigging, or make soft shackles for critical applications, I'd want to know a bit more about the specs than just the breaking strengths even though they claim to be equivalent to DSM 78.

Worth an email to ask them though.

Personally I am happy to use 'no-name' dyneema for some things. I recently replaced my lazy jacks with a cheap 7/64" no-name UHMWPE from Amazon. Super easy to splice, light, low windage and looks great compared to the dingy and heavy old line that was there before.
