Spinnaker Car Toggles

Folks,

I recently acquired a used spinnaker pole. Its reportedly from a Gulfstar 50.

Anywho, I need to know what kind of toggle is has. Sparcraft? Forespar? Other?

Anybody know what the dimensions of those toggles are? Anybody with a Gulfstar 50 that can send me a pic of theirs?

Thanks.

It would help if you post pics of what you have, along with the various dimensions of the pole's end fittings. That way even those unfamiliar with Gulfstars, but that are smart on spin poles, can comment & make suggestions.

Ah, yes, I suppose a photo would help. I also measured the size of the hole in the pole end. It looks to be about 1".

Re: Spinnaker Car Toggles

My guess would be that it takes a Forespar toggle. You could try the pole out on a known fitting & see, either on another boat, or at a rigging shop. Barring that, email a few rigging shops the pic & a description of what you need along with a contact number, & be ready to inspect your hardware live, while you're on the phone with them.

Some of what you need also depends on what you have for mast track. Since like jib cars, mast track is propietary.

Here are a couple of links which perhaps are useful:

Uncivilized,

I believe you are correct. My end fitting does appear to be a forespar toggle. I have a standard 1.25" track on my mast, so a forespar TS-125 should do the trick. Now the hard part: shelling out $600 for a car

Thanks for your help.

If you dig around in used gear chandleries it's often possible to find one for a lot less than new. And this is especially true anyplace which has spare masts laying around/for sale. Be it the above, marinas, yards, rigging shops, or boatbuilders. Any & all of which probably have resources for finding discounted parts if you tell them what you're looking for, & your approximate budget.

Call Bacon Marine Supplies & Sails in Annapolis, a very large used/consignment outfit. They could well have what you need.
