stanchion caps

I'm missing a few stanchion caps and have been wanting to get some new ones before I end up with a biopsy. But the $5.99/ea price just seems ridiculous for what they are.

So the other day sailing along I'm looking at the stanchions and the size just seemed to jump out to me. I pulled out my gas bottles for the BBQ and took the plastic cap off the threaded fitting and what do yo know it fit right onto the stanchions! And it was basically free! Heck I think the bottle full of gas is about the cost of the replacement stanchion caps!
