Strange Andersen Winch Failure
Hi - I had a strange Andersen winch failure and I'm hoping someone has seen something similar. My halyard winches are the old Andersens with the black plastic trim piece. I noticed that when hauling my dinghy on deck, the self tailing arm seemed to move towards the drum and eventually crushed the black plastic trim, then made contact with the drum and jammed the windlass completely.

I can't find anything that looks off in the disassembly, other than a broken black trim piece. The winch has worked just fine for several years of my ownership.

Has anyone seen this before?
