Taming of the sail....

So, the new sail is a beastie. I'm still working out sail controls etc.

It certainly is a LOT harder to flake on the boom, and I am concerned about over creasing a fabric that is somewhat more delicate than Dacron. I am halfway considering a stack pack sort of arrangement. I was thinking about building it from the Sailrite kit maybe.

And yeah, I understand that there will be some performance hit with weight and windage. I might be willing to suffer that to gain ease of use.

Whaddya think guys? Just build a bigger sail cover and maybe increase the lazy jacks? Or stackapacka? As it is right now, I raise the boom to the higher mast fitting before dropping the main....

Here's the sail in light air (again, still fiddling with sail controls....) https://youtu.be/737kAYYHUTQ

Stack pack. Easier on the new sail. Less chafing when dropping the sail and when reefed. Doesn't put hard creases in the sail like just lazy jacks.

I like really big sail covers, but stack packs if made to fit loosely are really nice as well.
