I am missing my instron on my boat, I think that's my problem! Thanks

I'm not saying they should do anything different, I'm not saying they even can (I don't think they can) - I'm not saying Samson or other manufacturers are being misleading, or are misrepresenting their claims, or any of that. I think they are mostly great companies and their comms with the community proves that.
OK, that’s what you’re not saying. What exactly are you saying? What is your point?

(I’ll ignore the rest.)

Conditions experienced by your lines on your boat are different from the lab tests.

That's a nice combination of useless and wrong. Or perhaps irrelevant. I want to call it a deepity, but I'm not sure it rises to the appropriate level of profundity.

Oh, sorry, did I hurt your feelings? Let me try again...

And...so what? What info are you missing w.r.t. your lines? And what would change in the lines you have on your boat or how you use them?

Well, no, you didn't - but why would you want to?

I'm also not sure I understand your follow up questions entirely, but the only thing I'd do differently is be careful with min-maxing my lines.

I meant try again so as not to...

Now let me simplify it for you - the answer is: no, there is nothing that you would do any differently. You have all the information you need.

Re: This is *crazy* !

It's been alluded to by Jedi etc but a cheap(er) low stretch line like MLX3 on your halyards and reef lines makes such a big difference in performance and handling.

Indeed, this is being drowned out by the other posts. These new ropes eliminate most of the stretch for little extra cost and often allow to go down a size, reducing friction and bulk

Have a look at “How Knot 2” on YouTube for someone who spends way too much time pulling Dyneema - including various knots and splices - apart.

Yes, I believe this is the person from the videos linked earlier. But he doesn’t know which Dyneema fiber Amsteel Blue is so that’s the problem with these videos.

It's also very important in systems with mechanical advantage, as stretch reduces the performance of those systems!

Email him: I'm sure he'll put out a correction.
