Transom Steps

I need to install some sort of boarding ladder on my reverse transom sailboat. The boat is European style so the pushpit is designed as the boarding location (stern to docking.) I'd like something that could be folded up (telescoping) to fit between the two sections of rail. I've done some research, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Thanks,

Ed

Try North Star Marine for telescoping transom ladders...as you know the angle
of the transom will be the issue...they may have been down that road before.

Re: Transom Steps

We are also looking for a permanently mounted boarding ladder for the reverse transom on our boat. Did you find something that works and is aesthetically pleasing?

I have a 2 part stern ladder on SG that folds down between the tender davits that is quite multifunctional

Long enough for a steady swim ladder that maintains a good climbing angle even with scuba gear

It also can be used for stern boarding med style, when you clamp on a floor.

When horizontal it can pivot on the transom mounted base or be locked in place.

I remember Nick on SV Jedi, designed a really nice transom system, so you might wish to PM him

Re: Transom Steps

I bought a ladder from anchoring.com, of which the plastic treads on the rungs promptly fell off. Contacted them months ago and they told me that they had "never heard of treads coming off" but nonetheless they would replace them free of charge. Later they told me they would be getting replacement treads on the next shipment from china* or insert third world country here. This went of through the winter, now they want me to remove ladder send it back to them for a replacement. The attitude I came away with is: you are bothering us with your complaint and let's make it as difficult as possible for this guy. I installed the ladder with a stainless backing plate and it would be a PITA to remove all for the want of a couple of plastic treads, wouldn't buy anything from them again.
