Traveler control line

I seek advice on the type of rope for a continuous main traveler control line. Ease of splicing is of paramount concern. Plan B is 3 strand dacron with a traditional long splice.>

Re: Traveler control line

Sounds like Plan B should work fine. You’re not setting up an America’s Cup rigid wing sail.

Re: Traveler control line

Doing a cover to cover splice in double braid is dead easy. It's only half strength, but in the traveller application this should not be a worry (unless you are restricted to very small diameter line). We used such a splice in an endless main sheet on our previous boat for many years and had no issues

Re: Traveler control line

Continuous traveller control line is often a single line secured at each end requiring only and eye splice on the ends. No end to end join.
A cam cleat at each end (opposite facing) and sufficient slack to flick the line from the cleat or pass around a handy winch is useful.

Covered dyneema in 8 or 10 mm is easy on the hands

+1, this isn't like a continuous mainsheet. Eye splices, or what I have...bowlines

Only other thing is I have a more "stretchy" control line to cushion gybes.

With my 21 metre noodle of a mast, gybes must be controlled not cushioned.
The 3.5 metre traveller and 10:1 boom vang allow for enough rig tension to separate the standing rigging tasks to before and after the direction change.

I like dyneema, stuff stays where I put it.
