Very Old Spinnaker . . . with Patches (pics)

need to know if its worth keeping...iv investigated every inches and sutures and all looks and feel solid...the repairs look profesionaly done buy a color blind individual...but hey I dont mind if its all good

the stamp on sail says 1964...dont know if it was built in 64 or the sail company was funded in 64??

your opinions pleas

G'Day Steeve,

From this distance it looks just fine. Don't worry about a few well done repairs (and they do look well done), for this is a pretty common fate for kites. Fortunately, the bulk of the cloth isn't stressed very heavily in normal use... most of the stress is concentrated in the three corners and the luff tapes, so if they are intact all is likely ok for casual use. I have used stickyback spinnaker repair tape for on the spot repairs... and had them still be in use a year later (blush)!

I'd say keep it for sure. You may grow to love it in time!

well jim I dont have experience yet but the info I get from you guys is making me love my sails alredy....thanks

seems like the more I learn about the uses of sails the less space they take down below

half of my Vbert should actualy be called a sail locker.
