VHF coax along backstay

My VHF coax cable going to the masthead antenna is dead and it simply can't be removed without unstepping the mast. I can't do that right now and I'm not particularly keen on running a new cable loose inside the mast so I'm considering temporarily running it along my backstay

I'm wondering if anybody has any tips on how best to secure it atop of the mast and along the backstay so that its weight is not pulling on the VHF antenna.

Thanks in advance

Black zip ties every couple feet and two or three ganged at the top should be fine. Never use the white ones outdoors, the UV eats them up.

That's more or less what I had in mind, but had no idea about UV eating up white cable ties. that's great to know. Thanks!
