Wear from backstay mounted radar?

Hi,
I was inspecting my new (to me) Islander Bahama 30 this weekend. It has a self-leveling radar mounted on an ss pole that is supported by the backstay. Looking up the ss cable back stay from the radar support mast I noticed a dark area on the backstay where it goes through a hole in the radar cradle. It’s hard to see up there, it’s about 10 or twelve feet up the back stay. My concern is that there is corrosion on the backstay where it enters the radar mount. Is this generally a concern with that sort of radar mount? My standing rigging is from
2008. Thanks!

Re: Wear from backstay mounted radar?

I have a Questus leveling mount on my backstay. For reference, the pole is two sections of stainless and the leveling unit itself is a greyish aluminum housing.

On my Questus unit there is a plastic bushing that the backstay goes through to prevent both dissimilar metal contact and abrasion. I have never noticed any significant discoloration or wear on the backstay caused by the mounting system.
