Whisker Pole advice sought

Hi everyone. Have a question regarding what length whisper pole I need for a 36ft boat?

When I purchased the boat, there wasn't a whisper pole onboard. Since I intend going offshore, I want to have a pole. Any idea of the length I would need? Does need to be a brand name?

Thanks
Mo

Mo,
I'll say this softly, but I think you are asking for advice for a whisker pole.

Can you start by telling us what boat you have as this would be helpful.

Whisper Pole advice sought

Whisker pole should be same length as the length of the foot of the largest sail that you plan to use it with. Regarding diameter, a rigger can specify the right size but 3.5” diameter would do it. Made from carbon fibre they’re much lighter and easier to handle.

Brand doesn’t matter - it’s just a tube with fancy end fittings. Speaking of which, do you have a ring on the front of your mast? If not, you’ll need to figure out how you’re going to attach the inboard end.

Thank you. Come to think about it, there are no rings on either side of mast. I would need to purchase said rings
