Wire or Rope steering?

To all the knowledgable people in CF land and sea, I have a lewmar Constellation wire steering style system on my elan and as I have just upgraded the rudder was thinking of changing the wire part of the system to Dyneema / Technora rope. In times past I have seen wire work harden and fail were the wire transverses the pully wheels. So do we think it would work if the new ropes would outlast or preform better than the SS wire?
I would splice the roope to the chain and lash it to the quadrant. If anyone could help with pros or cons I would love to hear your thoughts.
