Re: Dinghy Repair: large chafe hole

I do volunteer maintenance and crew on the Schooner Bill of Rights located in Chula Vista California. I've learned to repair Hypolon inflatable boats using StaBond, at 2 Part glue. It is temperature and humidity dependant. Temperatures above or below 70° F weaken the bond, as does humidity above 50 or 60 percent. I watch my Temperature and Humidity gauge to determine when I do the glueing. Of course, preparation is everything.

Re: Dinghy Repair: large chafe hole

having to repair our sevy marine hypalon tubed tender / after a large rock dislodged and grazed the tube on the way past the dinghy was upside down at the edge of the bank we cleaned off the rough material with wet & dry / wiped off with metho and fixed the factory patch that came with the dinghy with Bostik polyurethane sealant (grey) Seal'n'flex 1 slow cure (24 hours) full cure time 7 days / factory clean up with turps / initially held the patch in place with duct tape that eventually burnt off in the sun / the patch is still there and holds air pressure / we use the same adhesive to replace the floor after the second failure of the expensive 2 pak factory glue / after contacting the manufacturer and been told the glue is designed for a set relative humidity and temperature while curing / as we are not in a laboratory we tried the seal'n'flex (black) to match the floor and so far it is standing up to the horrible treatment our poor dinghy gets / need to be patient letting the gloop dry
