Re: Just Ordered a Kit for a Passagemaker Dinghy

Justin, I finally got around to opening your link. What a great job you did in building and reinforcing the take-apart bulkheads. I should have looked sooner I guess .
Your varnish is just beautiful! I am going with paint, inside and out, because I really do not wish to sand and re-varnish the boat each year. How often have you had to re-varnish?

Cheers, Bill

These things look so awesome that I think of doing something really silly. Great work guys! Works of art...

Did you ever finish?

I am thinking of building one of these with my son. The PT 11 looks nice too but more $$$.

Re: Just Ordered a Kit for a Passagemaker Dinghy

Hi, I did finish, sort of. I stalled a bit where all I need is to finish sanding and apply paint and/or varnish. I will get back to it. I also need to order the sail kit. I got a bit side-tracked, which happens sometimes. I highly recommend the kit and think it would be a great project for you and your son.

Currently in La Paz, but I can send some pics when I return home if you would like.

Cheers, Bill

Sweet looking boat!

Somehow your brief delay in finishing her reminds me of a book I read about a guy building a much larger boat, maybe a 35-foot Bud McIntosh design. (I can't recall exactly.) He said:

"One line of the instructions said 'Sand and fair the hull.' That one line took me three years!"
