Smome from Tonhatsu/Mercury 3.5

Hi,
Well, I replaced the carb on my 3.5 hp Mercury/Tonhatsu outboard, It runs great now. I took it out today and it has never run better. After coming back in I turned the gas off so that I could run the carb dry. It ran at idle for quite awhile, then I ran it a bit in forward which quickly killed the gas. That said, I noticed some smoke wafting from a small hole about halfway down the shaft, on the back end. It wasn’t much smoke, and it was coming from what I’m guessing is a dedicated hole for smoke. Anyway, when I see smoke I don’t understand I jump on here to figure it out. Any advice at all would be appreciated. Thanks!
