Anchor advise for 26f boat without windlass

Hello to everyone,
I already have in my 26 foot boat a primary bruce anchor 7.5 kilos but I really didn't trust in her... Any advise for better anchor suitable for wide situation of bottom? I didn't have a windlass I must collect it and chain and rope by hand!!
Thanks a lot for any advise !

Re: Anchor advise for 26f boat without windlass

I use a 22lb (10 kilo) and a 35lb (16 kilo) with my 34' catamaran with 25' of chain without a windlass, and I'm not very fit (but I don't have any serious problems, either). I use a danforth and a delta...everyone will have their own opinions on which brands are best, but you should be sure to have two different styles so you can switch for different bottom situations (fluke and plow for the areas I cruise). Hope this helps.

i use a 22lb danforth with 35 m of 8mm chain and 50m 12mm line on my 2000kg 26 ft yacht,no problems recovering it,even in 20m depths.

great holding even in open roadsteads miles from land!

That hurts my back just reading about pulling up 100' of chain. Thank lesser gods that I don't need that much in the silky sugary sandy bottoms where I prefer to hang.

No question about great holding but when I anchor in a rolly open roadstead, ... not a lot of sleeping going on. I have a pipe berth idea with a lee cloth in the future when anchoring continues to get tougher.
