I purchased a new boat in 2016 and decided that I would celebrate by buying myself a MFD to place at the helm position rather than run up and down to the navigation station to the nav computer and OpenCPN as I had for years on the old boat.

The original 7" helm installation has now expanded to two 9" MFDs so that I can display both a chart and a radar image concurrently at the helm, with the original 7" MFD to be installed at the nav station below.

Whilst it's wonderful to have all that information so readily available I have yet to find an anchor watch function on any of the new gadgets. I know they are probably there and one of these days I will set aside a week or so to locate it on one of them but until then, she's OpenCPN on the tablet.

Dropping a waypoint at the vessel position and assigning it anchor watch with OpenCPN is so simple and practicable I may never be able to overcome my affinity for it even if I do discover how to set an anchor watch and audible alarm on the MFD.

Added SafeAnchor for Android to the overview. It has quite some features, but a rather unusual way of defining the anchor radius and anchor position, which takes some time getting used to.
