anchor chain to rode connector

I have recently purchased and installing a windlass on my CS 30 and in doing so i have also changed out the existing 5' 1/2" chain and going to install a 30' 5/16" so here is my question. Do they make a connector thats connects the rode to the chain that the windlass will allow to pass thru either on take up or let out. If there is such an connector who makes it and where do i find it,,,

Re: anchor chain to rode connector

Since your current set-up is 1/2" chain, have you checked to see if your gypsy will accept 5/16"?

And yes, just splice the rode to the chain.

Re: anchor chain to rode connector

I'm not aware of a conventional connector (shackle, etc.) that will pass through a gypsy (chainwheel).

I've always seen the rope spliced to the chain when the rode will be made up of both.

Re: anchor chain to rode connector

Instructions for a nice, low-profile, tapered rope to chain back-splice.

Three-strand rope to chain splice
