Re: Anchor DIY

Since we are all banging on about the Sarca...

Mine did 20 years and 42,000 miles for the PO.

No problems in that time.

Turns out though, according to Rex it’s two sizes too SMALL for my boat.

I’m thinking of making it my kedging anchor and buying the correct size when I leave South Australia. (Where the Marsh Stockless is de rigueur because of the sea grass)

That looks like a duplicate of the excel anchor with roll bar on it.

Nothing like an Excel other than ventilation. Certainly is a perfect rip of a Mantus.
Enjoy the thread for a minute as Mods will be in soon. Izikalvo and Bonaparte don't follow the forum rules, again.

Re: Anchor DIY

Yeah, pretty weak to exact copy a Mantus, add slots like an excel, and brag like it’s a novel design. But it’s interesting they chose to copy Mantus design rather than rocna or manson. I personally had much better results with my mantus than my prior rocna

You really need to actually look at an Excell.

Re: Anchor DIY

Thanks Uncle Bob,
This is what an Excel looks like for those unfamiliar.
This sexy pic is obviously stainless. More common in galvanized steel. We also have an aluminum take apart version at half the weight.

Re: Anchor DIY

Well OK, I had some time and was curious, so went to the Viking website to seek some information on this "better than anything else" anchor. Didn't take long to see it's long on hype and short on info. Nothing on grade of steel (is it Bisalloy or isn't it?), what is the grade of galvanising that is "better than anything else"? How would they know the gal spec of all other anchors, anyway?

Without any real data and comparison testing, this is just marketing BS, and I sure wouldn't trust this mob with keeping our boat safe on a dark and stormy night.

Just read your comment here, nice language, nobody asked you to visit our website, what marketing BS you are taking about?

Since you brought it up the metal we are using called strenex 700MC, what else you want to know? But Please use decent language there are also few Europeans reading these comments.

Come on now, not just an anchor design, I can see bits of at least two successful designs there.

Interesting response to a simple observation, seems to be a case of shooting the messenger.
It appears to me that your presence here is to market your anchor, yet the statement "nobody asked you to visit our website" seems to be at odds to much of your posting. An interesting marketing ploy indeed.

And I am still trying to figure out what the heck the drone photos have to do with the anchor...

Maybe you get a free drone with every anchor?
