Anchor Locker Lining

I am wondering what would be a good material to line the anchor chain locker with. Carpet is cheap, but would stay damp. Sacrificial plywood box, crate, rubber matting, extra layers of fiberglass? I'm trying to keep the cold molded hull interior from getting chewed up with the chain. Any ideas?

That rubber coating used in pickup truck...is it called "box liner"? Anyway, it strikes me as a good idea for this, because I see it withstanding thrown shovels, pickaxes and garden tools in "working" trucks.

Cut the ends off of leaking or abused bumpers, flatten them out and use some glue directly against the inside bulkheads. Once the chain is in place you won't have to worry about the glue holding.
All the best!

Line the locker with Dri-Dek (Dri-Dek | Interlocking Tiles, Sheets & Rolls). Just cut to fit and use a little adhesive if necessary on verticle surfaces. This stuff will protect your hull, is non-absorbant, allows air to circulate, and won't snag line or chain.

I have no affiliation with this company other than being a happy customer.

Another good one is lengths of old rubber conveyor belt cut to size.

I use rubber Dri Deck tiles (West Marine) in my deck "dive gear" locker, for the drainage underneith... but they're HEAVY. On the other anchor locker, to save weight, I use this grey sheet rubber/plastic stuff from Lowes, in the carpet section. It is about 3' wide, and sold by the foot off of a roll. At only 1/16" thick, it is light and just enough cushion to keep the ground tackles hard parts, from dinging the inside of the locker. It holds up indefinetly, out of the sun... I also changed my Searunner's wet hatches, to solar vented DRY hatches. They don't call those places rot boxes for nothing!
Cheers, Mark

These adhesive diamond plate metal strips work well. Cover with spray on bedliner to get rid of the metal "Clink". Cheap & durable.

A big trash can of appropriate size and shape. The material is slippery enough the chain slides down it and does not stack and jam.

For me the answer looks like sheet UHMWPE. I knew some folks who have used what appears to be an oversized milk crate. That seemed to be a cheap solution that worked well, but I have only seen the one.

Rhino Linings

Here is a big name brand one, my old jeep had the floor boards covered in it and it works like a champ.
I liked it.

Re: Anchor Locker Lining

Just rubber floor mats used in kitchens or entry doorway way matts
They have drainage and can take impacts
Linings eventually wear out and start to chip off & will need to be redone
mats can just be removed if needed
