Anchor snubber shackle

I am trying to find a shackle for my anchor snubber. I am not big on chain hooks because I have had them drop off the chain before. The shackle needs to have a 1" wide "mouth"(to accommodate the steel eye) and a 5/16" pin. It needs to be deep enough to accommodate the steel eye spliced into the snubber and still reach the chain link (2+"). I would prefer a captive pin so I won't lose it overboard. I have looked and looked on line with no luck. Any ideas?

Re: Anchor snubber shackle

Have you considered using a soft shackle.
I have been using for past two years with no issues.

Re: Anchor snubber shackle

If you don’t want to use a soft shackle (we do…) and you want something better than a chain hook, take a look at the Mantus Devil’s claw chain - snubber connector to see if you like that better.

FWIW

Cheers, Bill

No such thing.

  • Soft shackle.
  • Sling and prusik hitch.
  • Short piece of rope and a camel hitch.
  • Bridle plate. Viking makes a locking one.
  • Several styles of locking chain hooks.
  • Kong chain gripper is probably the closest thing to what you are asking. Pin is captive. Not very popular, but I'm not sure why.
