Re: Anchoring home-made raft in Key West

Well 404, living aboard has worked well for us for 35 years now... is that an extended period by your lights? We have found it to be a rewarding, interesting, challenging and sometimes inspiring way to live and see the world.

What have you that is better?

Jim

Sorry about the drift... and count me in the group that does not think highly of the OP's plan for a whole (dare I say) raft of reasons.

I realize reading comprehension is often low, but the term was “reasonable logic”.

Not any of the things on your list.

Logic.

Re: Anchoring home-made raft in Key West

I’ve previously posted Jim Macbeth’s PhD thesis:
“Ocean cruising: A study of affirmative deviance”
The thesis concludes that cruisers, as cultural 'heroes', can be seen as affirmative deviants. That is to say, given an humanistic and western individualistic value system their deviance can be seen as contributing to their individual health and growth, and to positive social evolution.
Abstract ➥ https://researchrepository.murdoch.e...id/eprint/172/
Whole Thesis ➥ https://researchrepository.murdoch.e.../3/02Whole.pdf

The OP, crowexplorer, certainly strikes me as slightly ‘deviant’, but I’m not so certain of ‘affirmative’, or culturally ‘heroic’.

Thanks for the link, interesting reading. I wonder whether there is a more recent study?
But would he have classified people like Tillman as a cruiser?

Kind of like hanging out some meat for the crocodiles.

NO, and neither would I.
It was my feeble attempt at humour.
