AnchorRescue

At the Seattle Boat Show last month I was introduced to Anchor Rescue. This device appears to be a good alternative to the usual trip line as it avoids the need to deploy all the line, buoy, etc. The one concern I have is that the slider COULD fail to engage the catch at the anchor.
Has anyone had any experience with this device? Just looking for some feedback before I shell out the bucks to buy it.

Re: AnchorRescue

Many discussions not specifically about this product, but about trip lines, indicate that experienced cruisers and even daysailors find the extras hinder actual use and safety. Having more "stuff" to deal with when weighing the anchor is detrimental.

I anchor regularly and find KISS is really important, very, very important.

Re: AnchorRescue

I have been cruising the British Columbia Inside Passage and Desolation Sound for 13 years and had a situation about 4 years ago when my anchor snagged on an old logger's chain and I had to throw 400 feet of chain rode and a 30-kg Bruce anchor overboard. I have looked for safe ways to recover from such situations ever since and so far the only viable one is the trip line, with all its cumbersome disadvantages. This device, the AnchorRescue is much simpler and only needs to be deployed when a situation requires it.
I was looking for comments from anyone who has tried it, and with what results.
Thank you for your reply
