Re: anchors

Between those three options, Mantus is the hands down winner.

Is your bow pulpit an 'over the pulpit' or 'through pulpit' design?

Mantus, Manson Supreme, and Rocna classic will all have rollbars and would work best with an over the pulpit design.

Rocna Vulcan, Manson Boss, and the Mantus M2 are better suited for through pulpit design. Of these designs, I'd add the Spade to your list as well.

I've used a Rocna Classic, a Manson Supreme and a Rocna Vulcan. All with extremely good results. I would choose any of them.

IMHO I don't love the bolt together option of the Mantus, however, I do love their swivels and chain hooks. I also think the Manson Boss is just plain ugly.

Re: anchors

Between those 3 I'd pick a Spade.

I have a Manson Supreme that done me right for 10 years. But really i feel they are all basically the same and then is no reason to make yourself crazy.

Re: anchors

I have the Vulcan. Great anchor. Has never let me down or moved an inch.
I read all the ratings, opinions, and BS. There are several great anchors. Spade is rated best but at a large price. Difficult to separate the chafe and make a decision.

Re: anchors

We’ve had both a Manson supreme and a Mantus. Very comparable, slight edge to Mantus.

Really you can’t go wrong, pick a newer design that fits in an appropriate size and go for it.

Re: anchors

I'm assuming you're looking at the three roll bar versions of these anchors: Manson, Mantus and Rocna. My sense is that they are all quite similar. Some might do better in one substrate or different conditions than another, but they are all very similar. So I'd get the one that best fits your boat's roller and feels lightest on the pocketbook.

Personally, if/when I buy a new anchor I'll be looking very seriously at the Sarca Excel. I've been very impressed with its test results and demonstrations from recent anchor comparisons, such as by Panope.
