Anchors are Amazing !

I get it Don. I frequently find the whole boat pretty amazing. Harness the wind in a controlled (hopefully) fashion and your skimming across the surface of the sea. Surely there's some magic at play but of course it's just physics, but the of the best kind.

There's another amazing thing we just take for granted; wind and points of sail!

I took someone out sailing last year. He just never could undersatnd or come to terms with the boat being able to almost sail into the wind.

Maybe what we need is a "that's amazing" thread because we are getting jaded and have lost sight of how great some stuff is! And yes I have drug anchor, and yes I still think they are amazing compared what we ask of them.

Yeah -- took someone out last year that was a long-time stink-potter and he was totally awed by the fact that we could sail to windward. His first question was "How do we get back? Do we fire up the motor?". Then I had him take the helm and explained the physics of it. He's planning on getting a sailboat now. He thought it was totally cool that you could be propelled by just the wind.
