Yes, but WM lists price as $5.47/ft x 300' = $1641
Defender at $3.29 x 300' = $987 + 325 shipping = $1312
Sailorman at $4.21 x 300 = $1263 is cheapest so far, unless WM will price match or negotiate.

WM used to price match online sellers if they also had a retail store, but now they say if "currently in stock at a retail store located within 50 miles" of the WM store.

On the other hand, the Maggi sounds enough less expensive that I could buy it and have it re-galvanized in a few years and still be ahead.

This is all great and handy but I'm guessing its going to cost you $5+ dollars a foot and tax for the convenience.

Defender 275' half barrel = $760, truck freight $325 = $1085 or $3.94/foot
( this uses the previously stated quote for truck fright of 300')

West Marine has to be priced better than $3.71/foot + 6% tax. I don't know if the price is better in the store but online its $5.47/ foot. Is convenience worth $1.50/foot?

If you're going to get something around the 275' length you really might try at least calling a few of the local crane, industrial rigging supply, or maybe even welding supply shops in your area. Ask them to quote you ACCO Domestic chain #500140501. That's the part number for 5/16 G43, hot dipped galvanized, and 275' half barrel. You may find a better deal at these places. Especially if you're willing to wait for a regular order to be placed.

I 'm not sure you want the domestic stuff. ACCO Boaters Pride or whatever it's called # 700140501 is the stuff to get. I think it'a waste to get the cheap chain. Might not last 5 years.

I kinda thought Boatman's Pride (imported from china) was the cheap stuff....

At least looking at a few different vendor websites it comes off as the cheaper item.

I can't say I'm an expert but the stuff that I see in the local West Marine and the other fairly large chandlery in San Diego is the ACCO Peerless Domestic (USA made) stuff.

I'm also considering the Canada Metals Titan Chain as well. The only problem there is finding a place that would supply the length I need at a competitive price. So far no luck in my searches there.

Oh, Guy, you just had to complicate it, didn't you?

Argh, now we have to figure out WHICH of the ACCO G43 we're being quoted.

If you compare specs, http://www.peerlesschain.com/product...501.html?pdf=Y
versus
http://www.peerlesschain.com/product...501.html?pdf=Y
The Boatman's Pride is a little heavier, with .001 larger wire dia, .01 shorter inside link width. Is it heavier due to thicker galv? Who knows...

It's more G., there are different ratings for the G coating, bottom line more G is better. A gypsy does not care about a few thou.
I think it works the other way. The more worn out your chain is the more poorly it fits the gypsy because it gets longer. Shorter is better

Re: Best place to buy ACCO or Campbell chain in Fort Lauderdale?

Checked more places & prices in Lauderdale.

Discount Wire & Sling is lowest for ACCO 5/16 HT ISO Domestic at $3.60/ft (x 300' = $1080) but they have to order it in. If you order this week, there will be no freight cost because he has an another order going in anyway.

If the Maggi dimensions check out OK, and I can't find a good price on Campbell in Lauderdale, I'm going with Maggi. Although its galvanizing didn't test as well in PS, others report good experience with it and the cost is low and I can have it regalvanized for $250 when needed. The Maggi 5/16 HT ISO is $3/ft (x 300 = $900) and they will deliver to my boat in Lauderdale.

Maggi is new to US market, and I suspect their prices will go up in the future.

(all + 6% tax in FL of course)

Thanks for doing the homework for all of us. We're looking to order the same as you, but may wait until the boats ready to launch in early 2016.

Great price on Campbell, but it is a longer link (1.27 - 1.285) than ISO (1" - 1.03").

Looks like Campbell is a wild goose chase, at least for me. The only 5/16" G43 HT they make isn't an ISO length, and the only 5/16" ISO they make is G30.

Maggi USA sold us 250' of 5/16 G4 for $2.95 per ft and are dropping it off at a freight fwd outfit for free. It will end up being $3.60 ft. delivered to Guatemala. Very happy and thanks to all who contributed to this post.

I started this thread, and we're finally getting our 300' from Maggi USA tomorrow, assuming it fits the gypsy well (and I'm confident it will from the dimensions).
