Re: boat on a mooring, preventing mold

Sun Pacs work great, but I've really only seen them at Ace Hardware
https://www.acehardware.com/departme...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

This product is more widely available but I'm not sure it works on insects like SunPac does - Starbrite NosGuard

Re: boat on a mooring, preventing mold

We leave our boat 6-7 months of hurricane season on the hard in the Caribbean. Never had a mold problem. Before leaving:

Complete cleaning. Clorox and vinegar wipe down.
Empty & clean fridge, freezer
No open food
Leave several floor boards turned up.
Leave cabinet doors open.
Stand cushions on edge or send to a cleaner and storage.
Send sails to sailmaker for inspection, repair, clean, store.
Leave cockroach killer strategically
We hang a few dehumidifier chemical bags but this is probably not very effective.

When Trinidad used to be open we installed a rented AC in a cabin top hatch. A service of the boat yard. 78 and dry, condensate drain over the side. Some people choose dehumidifier. These are not options where we now are in Jolly Harbor, Antigua.

We have dorades.
We hire a boat watcher.

Available online. One outfit asking over $5 each. Don't pay over $3.

Do they work also if there is ventilation?

Here everyone vents and uses dehumidifiers in abundance. I'd like to try the Sun Pac..

I don't see any European distributor.
Might not be a product which can be sold legally over here...

Ace Hardware usually carries them.
Just got a couple of these. How do you use them, do you have to open them up before hanging them up, or just hang them closed as is?

Thanks,
Dirk
