It's better not to have a potential high pressure spot when galvanizing. It is a safety requirement
It s easy to refill the tip with lead
After all one doesn't regalvanize an anchor very often.

After trying and having mixed feelings about the performance of my 20kg Bruce holding the 43’ express cruiser, especially on a windy night, the leading edges and tips were sharpened with an angle grinder. They weren’t razor sharp, more like a butter knife. The penetration difference was incredible. In areas of hard sand, it would drag for maybe a boat length but now it penetrates quickly and goes deep. In soft mud over hard clay it would sometimes break free in a blow but now it’s usually hard to retrieve the next morning.
Fifteen minutes with an angle grinder made it act like a new and greatly improved anchor. The cost of improvement was only the wear on a grinding disc.
