Dinghy Dock

Hello All:

I am going to be moving aboard soon. I think I am the only person in the world who is moving to the Bay Area and decreasing his rent. Mine is going from $1500 a month down to $800. Of course my boat is quite a bit smaller then the 3 bedroom 2 bath 2 car garage home where I live.

Anyway the marina where I will be living was recently rebuilt and the management does not want to have anything afixed to the docks. I used to store my hard dink upside down on a couple of timbers at the front of my berth. I have to make a floating dock now. I am considering using 3 six foot length of 8" PVC pipe. Connecting them with two 2 x 12s that would have half moons cut out for the PVC and then slots to hold the gunwales of the dink upside down. I would probably use bottom paint on the pipe but am not sure. Any thoughts or other ideas?
