Here is what you need to know about anchoring in false creek

Anchoring in False Creek - Blueways

Short version, you need to drop in a register for a permit (free), and you can tie up the dinghy at the aquabus docks on the south shore.

I'm headed over in a week or so. There's been a lot of fog on the strait the last while - particularily in the mornings but sure is nice today. They were calling for another heavy rain to hit the west coast up around Kingcome hopefully that doesn't affect our weather since the forecast looks good. Have a great crossing.

How did it work out? Did you anchor or dock? Any advice?

not knowing the area the first night i docked at the false creek harbour authority fishermans wharf but the rest of my stay i anchored out right in front of monk mqueens restaurant with about a half dozen other boats. last night i was there was last friday weather started to go for crap wind warnings etc.... but holding was solid in about 25 ft of water. came across the strait on sat blowing pretty good sloppy sloppy seas took about 4 hours to cross into silva bay. when coming into english bay heading for false creek just watch the navigational bouys as it gets pretty shallow around spanish bank. you do have to pick up a anchoring permit which is free there is a self registration stand there by the dinghy dock at monks. vpd comes around a couple of times a day checking peoples permits. you can dinghy over to the dinghy dock and a 15 min walk takes you right into granville island or you can take one of the many aquabus ferries.

That will be a big help, I think I'm headed over Friday if I can get everything done tomorrow.
